I have always loved doing art. I was drawing portraits before I started kindergarten and no doubt they looked quite primitive! When I was a little older I amused myself by making my own paper dolls and drawing dresses for them. (Boy paper dolls didn't interest me!) After I graduated from Waukesha, Wisconsin High School I worked in offices and saved to go to Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. I loved this time of life, but had to leave school before I could graduate because I ran out of money. This was before National School Loans or Work Study. Back to office work. I soon met my future husband, married, and had a large family. No time for art except for an occasional pencil portrait of one of our children.
When the youngest became two, I brought out my paints and created works of art while my baby napped. The rest is now history. I have been painting ever since, taking an occasional art workshhop.
Celebration of Planet Earth has always been my theme. Whether it is a representational painting or a semi abstract work, design, value and color are important to me. For me, art must have it's own spirit that goes beyond the intelligence of the piece. It must contain a sense of wonder and also surprise.
My most recent paintings have been created with acrylic and collage, sometimes combining the two. Luminance in these works excites me. I have had a hard time finishing my chores in order to work on the latest creation.
My hope is that you simply enjoy my efforts.
